The modern supply chain of the Far East started with Hong Kong in the 1950’s and from there to Japan in the 1960’s, thereupon migrating to South Korea and Taiwan. From there it was a small step but one with significant repercussions as the world transformed China into “The World’s Factory”.

 

Inherent with each migration were initial revisions to the status quo incumbent in the preceding supply chain except that no one thought of it then in those terms. Life was much simpler – you placed an order with Factory A and then, when comparative advantage economics dictated a move, you went to Factory B. But, subsequent to the initial move to Mainland China, many other countries expressed their concrete Intentions to be cost-effective suppliers – India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka….the list is essentially as long as the list of countries.

 

It is no longer enough to be a ‘specialist’ in a single country of supply especially as current economics not only suggest but often absolutely dictate that components and semi-finished product be sourced in multiple countries, only to then be put together/manufactured/assembled in another. 

 

For this you need a strategizer, one who knows which factory does what best AND whether they can and will deliver it consistently on time as specified. And, more than ever, you need one whose finger is on the pulse as the situation is always morphing….just because last week’s solution was best is no guarantee for this week (and is even less so for next week).

 

You need someone who knows this instinctively, who can not only provide delivery to your docks but can also ensure that your exact specifications are ‘translated’ into exact physical product each and every time. We verify each and every factory, not just for labor issues but for actual production capabilities. We verify factory capacities in order to know that your production quantities can and will be produced on site and not subcon-tracted to an unknown and unvetted supplier.
